Evening Family Movies on the Library Lawn

Thank you to all who came out for our first outdoor movie, Encanto, on August 13th. Regrettably, we had to postpone our August 20th movie due to rain. We have worked with the projection company to reschedule the showing of Nanny McPhee; the new date is: Tuesday, October 4th; the fun starts at 7:00 p.m., and the movie will begin at dusk. This date was chosen because Wednesday, October 5th, is a staff development day at the Cazenovia School District, so children will have that day off.

The results are in: the top two vote-getters for outdoor movies are Encanto and Nanny McPhee. Thank you to all who voted. Encanto will be shown on Saturday, August 13th, and Nanny McPhee will be shown on Saturday, August 20th. Bring your own chair; free popcorn will be provided. On both dates, the fun starts at 8:00 p.m., and the movie will start at dusk. Here’s a description of each movie:

Disney’s Encanto, with original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family living in a magical house in the Colombian mountains. But when Mirabel, the only ordinary family member, discovers the magic surrounding their home is in danger, she may be her family’s last hope. Animated; rated PG.

Nanny McPhee is a wickedly charming tale. Emma Thompson portrays a mysterious woman with special powers who enters the household of the recently widowed Mr. Brown (Colin Firth) and sets about taming seven very naughty children. The children have managed to drive away 17 previous nannies, but as Nanny McPhee takes control, they begin to notice that their misbehaving has magical and startling consequences. Rated PG.
