Erie Canal Brewing
Michelle Giraud – Craft Beer Specialist
Erie Canal Brewing Company was originally founded in 2013 by partners Sam Lanzafame and Jason Tedford with the goal of using 100% local ingredients from their farms. In keeping with this goal, the Menikheim family purchased the brewery in 2015 as part of their vertically integrated farm to brewery approach of producing local hops & barley, brewing beer using their own ingredients, distributing it locally and at their retail location Seneca St Brew Pub located at 315 E Seneca Street, Manlius, NY.
Erie Canal Brewing currently offers 3 beers:
. Muleskinner Pale Ale– a relatively low alcohol (4.5 percent), easy-to-drink brew. Brewed with 100% locally grown ingredients.
. Locktender India Pale Ale(IPA) – 6.5 percent alcohol, with a more pronounced hop character.
. Amber Waves of Grain– This beer, 5 percent alcohol, is darker than the other two with a caramel and chocolate malt character. It’s made in conjunction with Clear Path for Veterans, a veterans services agency in Chittenango who also receive a portion of the proceeds from this beer.
Erie Canal is distributed in Onondaga, Madison, Oneida, Herkimer, Otsego & Chenango counties through TJ Sheehan & Tri-Valley Beverage and can be found at several establishments in these areas.
