Well I guess I have to face facts and summer is officially over this weekend. *Insert crying here. I feel like a toddler kicking and screaming because I don’t want to come inside at bedtime. *Insert more crying here. How to keep that summer feeling alive? Pondering this dilemma I thought this would be a good time to post some of the best books of summer 2017. Some I’ve read, and some I plan to jam into the next month!
The first I’m sure you’ve heard of The Handmaid’s Tale. Huge because of the hit show on HULU based on the book. It’s the future based on the past. Social unrest, new world order and women’s rights all rolled into one. Interesting and intellectually scary.
The next blockbuster that caught my eye was The Identicals
Yes this is one of my favorite authors but I was not able to get this book over the summer so… perfect book to help extend that summer feeling. Twins, one on Martha’s Vineyard and one on Nantucket. It’s a classic switch lives premise but I’m sure it will turn out anything but classic.
Third, Camino Island, a library heist. What ?!? John Grisham and libraries. How can it go wrong? I don’t even have to sell this one.
Lastly there were new books out by Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz, Lee Child, James Patterson, Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler. All solid summer reads that will carry you through September and into the cozy fall weather of October. Now that the summer read rush is over it’s easy to stop by and pick up or order one of these books from the library.
p.s. What was your favorite summer read?
