“Fire and Ice” Art Exhibit

31 July 2021 @ 9:00 am - 28 September 2021 @ 5:00 pm

The library will host an art exhibit entitled “Fire and Ice” with photographs by Jerry Weimar and glasswork by Shauna Wilson.

Jerry Weimar is an Adirondack 46er (a hiker who has climbed all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks) whose photographic interests were originally inspired by the beauty of the Mountains. His work focuses on Central New York, especially Madison County and the Adirondacks, but also includes the Arctic regions of Greenland and Iceland, as well as many other places in North America.

He has been doing landscape photography for 20+ years, and attempts to create images that capture the light, colors, and moods of nature in a way that draws the viewer into an emotional experience with the natural world, and captures a sense of place.

Glass artist Shauna Walsh Watkins explores several techniques in her studio including glass blowing and fusing. For this show she melts lead crystal to form bowls and small trays including birdbaths in collaboration with a local metal worker. She also includes some of her blown glass in the form of bowls and paperweights.

She studied art at Rochester Institute of Technology and received a BFA in glass from Massachusetts College of Art. She also studied with master glass artisans at Penland Craft School in North Carolina and Kent State University in Ohio. She is a member artist at Cazenovia Artisans. She established her business Windwood Glass in 1987.
