Library Services

Services available at the Library

What the Library can do for you and the community
and how we do it.

Loan Periods and Limits:

  • Two week loan – Physical books, Books on CD, Music CDs, Games, Chromebook laptops
  • One week loan – DVDs
  • Indefinite loan – Jigsaw puzzles and magazines may be borrowed without a library card but we ask that you return the items to us when you are done with them.

In most cases, patrons are limited to 20 items on their account at once. DVDs are limited to 5 per library card, per visit. If you need to check out more than 20 items at once, please contact the library and we may be able to extend your privileges to check out more items.

All physical items may be renewed upon request, unless another patron has placed a hold on them. Items may be renewed by visiting the library, calling the library at 315-662-3134, or via your online account at (Please note that electronic resources are non-renewable.)

If no one else has requested the item, physical materials will be automatically renewed up to 3 times.

Replacement costs:

The New Woodstock Free Library does not charge late fees. Patrons are encouraged to return library materials on time so that other people may have the opportunity to borrow them. In the event that an item is lost, the library does charge replacement fees, which vary depending on the item.

The library now has 2 Chromebook laptops which may be checked out for a 2-week period to patrons whose accounts are in good standing. Please contact the library for more details.

Please note: Because of social distancing, the library has temporarily reduced the number of public computers to 2 rather than our usual 4.

The library provides public desktop Chromebox computers that are available for patron use inside the library. Computer use is limited to 1 hour at a time, which may be extended if no one else is waiting to use the computers.

You may print directly from the public computers to the public printer. Printing is $0.10 per page, with the exception of school, tax, or legal documents, which are free.

The library offers black-and-white and color copying on our office copier. Black-and-white copies are $0.10 per page and color copies are $0.30 per page.

The library has a full-color scanner which is available for use with staff assistance. Patrons should bring a USB drive for saving their scans.

The library offers outgoing faxing to local and toll-free numbers at no charge. Outgoing faxes to long-distance numbers are $0.50 per page. Incoming faxes are accepted at $0.50 per page.

The library offers free notary services during weekday business hours by appointment on and on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturdays.

To make a weekday appointment for notary services, please call Kathy Weimar at 315-663-5904 during regular library hours only. For Saturday notary services, please visit the library and ask for Clara.
