Summer Reading Kick-Off Event - Monday, July 1st

Kids who read beat summer slide*! Enter the summer reading program at the New Woodstock Free Library which will be held from July 1^st to August 31^st, 2024. The theme this year is ‘The Adventure Begins at Your Library’ with programs built around the endless potential that creative adventure provides for learning.

This year’s Summer Reading Program starts with a fun and exciting Campout-Themed Pizza Party and Open House from 4.30pm to 6.30pm

During the event you can discover more about the Summer Reading Program and sign up. In addition, there will be lots of fun activities to begin your adventure! Most importantly, there will be prizes and pizza!!!

*“Summer Slide” is the tendency for students to lose some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year. A study by the North West Evaluation Association (nwea.org) of children in 3rd to 5th grades showed that students lost, on average, about 20 percent of their school-year gains in reading and 27 percent of their school-year gains in math during summer break.
