On Saturday, July 26th, starting at 10:00 a.m., everyone is cordially invited to two events in the library.

In 2025, the Erie Canal turns 200 years old!  In a talk entitled “Waterway of Change: Women and the Erie Canal,” the Erie Canal Museum staff will cover the history of women’s involvement on the Erie Canal, and how the women’s rights movement grew from the changes brought about by the canal’s development.  This talk accompanies the exhibit from the museum entitled “Hidden Perspectives: Women’s Lives on the Erie Canal.”  The exhibit will be on display through the end of August.

Following the talk, at approximately 11:00 a.m., we will hold our annual Volunteer Appreciation Day where we celebrate all of our volunteers without whom we could not do what we do. We will present the Volunteer of the Year Award at this time. Refreshments will be provided.
