Nine Lives and More New Arrivals

If you’re a fan of Danielle Steel, we have a treat for you. Her latest book – Nine Lives – is here at the library on our New Arrivals shelf. In Steel’s latest offering “a woman who longs to avoid risk at all cost learns that men who love danger are the most exciting.” (At least, that’s the publisher’s description. You’ll have to read the book to see if you agree about the excitement value of danger-loving men.)

Those who loved The Book of Lost Names by Kristin Harmel will be pleased to hear that we have the author’s new novel, The Forest of Vanishing Stars, which her publisher calls “an evocative coming-of-age World War II story about a young woman who uses her knowledge of the wilderness to help Jewish refugees escape the Nazis.”

The Very Nice Box by Laura Blackett and Eve Gleichman is an “offbeat, wryly funny debut” about an “eccentric project engineer who works for a hip furniture company… under the purview of a startlingly charismatic boss.” It’s meant to appeal to fans of Elinor Oliphant is Completely Fine, which I really enjoyed, so I’ll certainly be checking out this book at some point, although I’ll give our patrons first crack at it.

Then we have two new children’s picture books, recommended by Cornell Cooperative Extension, that teach – in a clever and funny way – about where our food comes from. Renee, our Library Manager, calls them “adorable and important” and thinks kids will enjoy learning more about what farmers do and how our meals travel from the farm to our plates.
